My work attempts to examine the limits of language and the disconnect driven by modern tools of communication. Using material, form, and universal symbols, I attempt to ground my work in the shared understanding of visual experience. I hope viewers are drawn to the accessibility of the work, recognizing everyday objects or familiar themes, as an entry point for discourse on new perspectives.
Central to my practice, I salvage, collect and catalog objects, creating a library of “things”, from raw materials and discarded consumer goods to recycled industrial products. Oftentimes, these items will coexist in the studio for years, before their true purpose as sculptural components is revealed.
Highlighting relevant concepts through titles or descriptions, I look to start a dialogue with the viewer, urging them to build their own layers of meaning. I hope to create work that is both universal and personal. As a result, my work rarely survives its own fabrication, public critique, or passing observation, unaltered.
My work explores time, nature, wealth, faith, story and place. I observe my environment to closely examine the objects that define it, hoping active engagement can help improve our collective reality. (July 2025)
